Join us for our Annual Merriwa Springtime Show

The Merriwa Show is the largest community event on the calendar. It is the opportunity for all members of each community across the Upper Hunter Shire to exhibit, compete in and attend their Shire’s Show.

It is only through the generous support of donors and supporters, show attendees, exhibitors and competitors, committee members and local communities within the Merriwa District and further afield, that the Merriwa Show Society has been able to continue and thrive. The support is truly appreciated and valued by the Merriwa Show Society, and is no doubt reflected in the local show, as the diverse Shire we proudly live in and call home.

See you all on the 3rd weekend of September.

BIOSECURITY NOTICE

All cattle, sheep and goats exhibited at shows must be recorded in the NLIS database. This ensures exhibitors and shows comply with the Stock Diseases Regulation 2009 and that animals which have been to a show or sporting event are traceable. Shows are a biosecurity risk because animals from different properties come together and then disperse again. It is in everyone’s interests that show committees and exhibitors ensure livestock movements are recorded. The new Biosecurity (NLIS) Regulation will come into effect by June 2017 and will require that show organisers record livestock attendance at shows. This is an increase in responsibility for show committees. All cattle, sheep and goats have to be identified with an NLIS tag (except for dairy goats) and must be accompanied by an NVD or a Transported Stock Statement. All competitors must hand in a signed waiver form upon entry to the show. Please see individual sections for your requirements.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to make the 2019 Merriwa Springtime Show an outstanding success!  Whether you were a valuable member of the executive, gave up your time for a position on our show committee, were busy captaining or assisting on one of our many show sections, or volunteered your time for catering, setting and cleaning-up, or in any capacity, the show cannot go on without the efforts of each and every one of you.

This Merriwa Show is an amazing team event with many months of behind the scenes efforts backed up by generous sponsors and community supporters like you all. The good will and spirit our Merriwa Show has generated over 110 years and continues to inspire is uplifting, providing a tremendous boost for all at a time when we need it the most. This year the show was truly a celebration of all that is great about our local Merriwa community! Despite the drought, we managed to put together a spectacular exhibition of impressive livestock, cooking, art, crafts, produce, trade displays and entertainment for everyone while fully engaging our local youth and even announcing a Merriwa Showgirl. As Merriwa Show president, I would like to extend my appreciation to everyone involved in bringing our show event together. I won’t try and name you all as you know who you are.

Congratulations on your contribution to our 110th Merriwa Show!
Many Thanks.
